GROW & GIVE
COMMUNITY
Richard Allen, co-founder of not-for-profit organisation, Bangalow Lion Hearts alongside his wife and a friend, where they strive to find new strategies for helping people in need, far beyond their local community.

Richard has transformed part of Clover Hill Park, Bangalow, into an edible garden, growing vegetables to be used for Bangalow Lion Hearts cook-ups, to give to some of our volunteer cooks to use in the meals they're making, and to donate further afield; to homeless shelters, women's refuges, soup kitchens, the Bangalow CWA who use them in pickles and relishes and then sell them to make money for charitable donations, and other local community groups.
His impact on each and every community group he grows and donates to makes a positive impact for the greater good. Contact Richard if you would like to donate in the form of sponsorship of the garden, or you would like to get your hands dirty and donate some hours working under his instruction.
Hi!
Just friends who get a kick out of giving
We're (from left to right) Pippa, Richie, Lulu (the dog) and Kylie, and we're Bangalow locals who love our community very much.
We are a group of volunteers who were part of the incredible Baked Relief Bangalow back in May 2017 after the floods caused so much damage to Lismore, Murwillumbah and surrounding areas. It was so moving to be part of this community who rallied together and did so much to support those in immediate need.
In 2017 we realised we'd like to do more than just help in times of crises. We wanted to help those in our community who find themselves struggling because of illness, accident, job loss, or one of the many other things that can create a need for you to receive support from a community who cares.
We approached the Bangalow Lions to ask for their support, and they embraced the idea wholeheartedly.
Bangalow Lion Hearts was formed, and due incredible donations, sponsorship from local (and further afield) generous souls, and operating under the Bangalow Lions insurance, we've been able to help locals and people in need further afield! It feels good to do good for others.
We can't do it without you, so if you can cook, bake, donate produce from your garden, donate ingredients if you don't like (or have time!) to cook or bake, we can use it all!
If you'd like to donate money, please do so via the Bangalow Lions, specifying in the description "Bangalow Lion Hearts".
If you are able to to assist with working bees, driving, or anything else - we want to hear from you.
The group has been created, managed and coordinated by Bangalow locals; Kylie Mowbray-Allen, Richard Allen and Pippa Vickery, with the support of the Bangalow Lions.
The Bangalow Lion Hearts are sponsored and supported by the Bangalow Lions Club
Our volunteers are all ages, from all over the NSW Far North Coast, and all have one thing in common; they LOVE community! They LOVE doing good for others, and they LOVE making a difference.
